Stihl MS 250 18" is a no-nonsense saw that gets the dirty jobs done without fuss. It’s light enough to carry all day and tough enough to bite through limbs, storm mess, and small trees. Under the hood it’s a 45.4 cc gas powerhead that puts out real cutting bite while keeping weight low — about 10.1 pounds for the powerhead. It runs an 18-inch bar with a .325" pitch, .050" gauge, 68-drive-link RAPID™ Micro™ chain (narrow-kerf RM3), so you get quicker cuts and lower vibration compared with older chains. The saw ships with things you actually use on the job: STIHL Quickstop® chain brake for kickback safety, side-access chain tensioner for fast adjustments, easy twist caps for fuel and oil, anti-vibration mounts, and automatic bar/chain oiler — all designed so you spend less time fiddling and more time cutting.
This is a saw that’s built for real work: yard cleanups, storm cleanup, cutting firewood, and fencing jobs where you need a durable tool that won’t complain. The narrow-kerf Rapid Micro chain holds an edge longer and cuts quicker, so you finish jobs with fewer stops for sharpening. The low vibration and the weight make standing-up work easier — less shake, less fatigue, more cuts per tank. Keep it simple on upkeep: keep fuel fresh, top the bar oil, check the chain tension before you start, and use the toolless caps and side tensioner when you need a quick fix. The MS 250 is built to be fixed in the field.
